For my daughter who has been a challenge.
I have always brag about being a knowledgeable person when it comes to music. Particularly new music. For instance I really like that Carrie Underwood chic. Jamie Foxx and Paramore are also nice.
But there are some singers I just abhor. Britney Spears is one of them. I hate her songs.
Yesterday I was hearing a song by one of my children’s idols: Miley Cyrus, which, by the way, is one of the artist I abhor. Not that she’s a little whore like Britney (there was a time I really liked to go out on dates with girls like that), is that her demeanor, since she was at her show in Disney, (yes... I watch Disney Channel) always looked to me “slutty”.
I was flabbergasted when a song she sang hit me as a master piece of music, performance and Lyrics. Her song “The Climb”, is for me, one of the best songs I have heard in years. The lyrics are simplistic, but two paragraphs of it can be extrapolated to something more complete and meaningful:
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
Why I liked it so much? Well because I always liked difficult things to obtain. A beautiful woman, a hard college subject, a complex project, etcetera.
Not have I finished a difficult task, I’m looking for another one. Sometimes I don’t even finish one and start the other.
For some people I know, this cavalier attitude towards life have prevented me from being in a better “economic” position than where I am. That I should take important things more seriously. Well, what can I say... I am not that kind of person!
I have never enjoyed the success as I enjoyed the struggle to get it. Example of it is this blog and my presence on social networks. I like to create controversy, I like to wind up attitudes, the result is of not much consequence to my objective. The creation of it, is.
